Newport Mesa Unified School District is seeking a bilingual Instructional Aide to support students with limited English proficiency. The role focuses on translating written materials and oral presentations to assist teachers and communicating with families.
Under the direction of a principal, the aide will translate for teachers and for parents, helping sustain inclusive classroom instruction in both Spanish and English. A high school diploma and bilingual proficiency are required.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned Principal, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of limited or non-English speaking students in a classroom environment by translating written materials and oral lectures; translate for teachers or non-English speaking parents as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and some experience working with children in an organized setting. Incumbents must be proficient in English and a designated second language.
Please note that this is a bilingual position and the successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency in both Spanish and English. The ability to speak Spanish is required and will be evaluated during the Qualifications Appraisal Interview (Oral Exam) phase of the recruitment.
