Job summary

Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (BHSSC) is seeking an energetic, creative Instructional Assistant who is passionate about education and mentorship. The role supports after-school activities for K-5 and Club-style programs for older students in Rapid City, SD, emphasizing supervision, mentoring, and engaging learning experiences.

You must be at least 14 years old and pass a background check. Work-study through SDSMT, NAU, WDT, or BHSU is welcome.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds occasionally

Responsibilities

• Implement activities as requested by Site Coordinator.
• Develop activities as identified or requested by Site Coordinator.
• Monitor students and implement behavior management strategies.
• Engage students in positive, age-appropriate interactions.
• Staff meetings and staff trainings participation.
• Complete daily program setup, recess duty, janitorial duties, and cleanup.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (BHSSC) is a public entity that is an educational cooperative under the State of South Dakota. BHSSC is comprised of five divisions dedicated to aiding school districts, individuals, and the communities. BHSSC is seeking an energetic, creative Instructional Assistant who is passionate about education and mentorship.

Wage

• $15.48 per hour

Job Type

• Part-Time, Non-Exempt
• Expected hours: 20 per week
• Mon-Fri, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm (One Early Release Friday per month - 1:00pm-6:00pm). We follow the Rapid City Area School District calendar.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement activities as requested by Site Coordinator.
