Position Summary

Madison County Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant for Madison Primary School. The successful candidate should possess strong communication and leadership skills, a strong work ethic, flexibility, and the ability to multitask efficiently. The candidate must demonstrate the capacity to complete assignments promptly and accurately, representing the division positively in various settings.

Requirements

• Maintain high standards and ethics daily.
• Ability to exert moderate physical effort, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, pulling, pushing, and carrying objects of moderate weight.
• Pass the ParaPro Assessment and/or have completed two years of college.
• Complete the Autism Spectrum Disorder for Paraprofessionals online course.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in preparing and conducting activities.
• Work with individuals, small groups, or large groups as assigned.
• Escort students to various activities as directed.
• Plan with students under teacher supervision.
• Assist in modifying student behavior.
• Monitor students during assigned periods in different school environments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by teachers or principals.

Salary and Benefits

Range: $23,900 - $34,882, based on experience. This is a 10-month, 185-day contract position. Benefits include sick leave, personal leave, Virginia Retirement System, and partial health insurance payment.
