Instructional Aide/Teaching Assistant

Reports to: Classroom Teacher

Qualifications: High School diploma, Associates or Bachelor degree. Experience working with elementary children with social/emotional/behavioral needs preferred.

Scope of Duties:

  • Responsible to and functions under the direction of the classroom Teacher.
  • Assist the teacher in the delivery of instruction and the implementation of the IEP Goals and objectives.
  • Ensure the safety of the students in all environments.
  • Assist in facilitating independence, social awareness, language and appropriate behavior.
  • Assist the teacher in the inclusion of students with special needs into the mainstream school.
  • Assist the teacher in the collection of data.
  • Participates in training in relevant areas.
  • Driving students to work.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a SAFIS fingerprint and CORI screening.
