Job Summary

The Instructional Aide supports individual and group student needs by delivering personalized education programs aligned with IEPs, under the supervision of the Special Education Teacher, General Education teachers, and Speech & Language Pathologist, while embodying Aspire’s core values.

Essential Functions

  1. Provide services, supports, and interventions directly to students, under supervision.
  2. Implement IEPs with fidelity, supporting students with toileting, health needs (e.g., g-tube, feeding, medication), and physical assistance (lifting, mobility, exercises).
  3. Monitor and support behavior intervention plans according to IDEA.
  4. Assist in supporting students with IEPs within the school environment.
  5. Track progress and input data based on IEP goals.
  6. Create and modify instructional materials for individual students.
  7. Collaborate regularly with IEP team members, including teachers, specialists, and administrators.
  8. Support students with Behavior Supports and Services by implementing Behavior Intervention Plans, de-escalation techniques, and crisis strategies.
  9. Uphold Aspire’s mission, values, policies, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Competencies:

  • Understanding of child development and diverse learning styles.
  • Experience with students with extensive needs.
  • Commitment to implementing IEPs and inclusive practices.
  • Reflective and adaptable in practice.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate high expectations for all students.

Minimum Education:

  • Associate’s degree, 48 college units, or passing Paraprofessional Test; Bachelor’s preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 1 year working with students with moderate/severe needs or from urban communities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move and position self in various environments.
  • Prolonged standing or sitting.
  • Communicate effectively and perform repetitive motions.
