Job summary

Ombudsman Educational Services is seeking an Instructional Aide to support students in grades 6-12 within an Alternative Education program. You will assist with implementing IEPs, provide personalized instruction and supervision, and collaborate with teachers to foster student growth.

You will help track progress, support behavioral interventions, and contribute to documentation and reports while maintaining confidentiality and contributing to accreditation efforts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; basic skills test required.
  • Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
  • Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
  • Educational aide credential preferred.
  • Experience with instructional guidance for children in alternative/special education settings.
  • Experience with learners with learning disabilities, autism, and emotional/behavioral challenges.
  • Ability to respond calmly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
  • Strong communication to motivate students toward goals.
  • Proficiency in Office software and basic tech.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teachers to create a supportive, high-achieving learning environment.
  • Provide individualized instruction and behavioral interventions on-site and in community settings.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate with teachers about successes and needs.
  • Support student behavior management and align with school policies.
  • Assist with documenting student behaviors and performance; contribute to reports.
