Job summary

International Leadership of Texas is seeking an instructional assistant to support teachers in delivering classroom activities and managing instructional tasks. The role includes assisting with reading, writing, and mathematics instruction, preparing materials, and helping maintain records.

You will supervise students and participate in staff events, under the direction of licensed teachers. The position emphasizes collaboration with staff, effective communication, and a commitment to student

Qualifications

  • Must have 48+ college credits or a high school diploma with ESSA assessment.
  • Experience working with children is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional assistance to students under supervision of a certified teacher.
  • Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Assist with administration and scoring of tests and assignments.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom and support inventory of materials and equipment.
  • Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  • Supervise students during school hours, including lunch, bus, and recess duties.
  • Participate in staff development and faculty events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

Primary Purpose:

Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing of classroom activities.



Qualifications:


Education/Certification:


  • 48+ Earned College Credits, Associates degree, Bachelors and/or Masters Degree at a U.S Department of Education recognized accredited institution of higher learning (Preferred)

  • OR High School Diploma if formal academic assessment is passed as required by Every Student


Succeeds Act (ESSA)



Special Knowledge/Skills:


  • Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics

  • Ability to work well with children

  • Ability to communicate effectively



Experience:

Some experience working with children



Major Responsibilities and Duties:


Instructional Support

1. Provide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students or small groups.


2. Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.


3. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.


4. Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.


5. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.


6. Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.


7. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.



Student Management

8. Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.


9. Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.



Other

10. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.


11. Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.



Additional Duties:

12. Any and all other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor.
