Job summary

KERRVILLE ISD is seeking a School Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom. You will assist with IEP implementation, including basic self-help, behavior management, and instructional activities under the supervision of a licensed teacher.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, with preferred experience in education. The position involves school-day support across campus settings and requires maintaining confidentiality and safety

• Assist with physical needs and personal care such as feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
• Assist with behavior management and intervene in crisis situations as needed.
• Adapt methods and interaction to meet differences in medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs of students.
• Work with assigned student(s) or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises.
• Assist students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom (lunchroom, bus, playground).
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned student(s).

Responsibilities

Student Management

• Help meet the individual needs of student(s) including transferring to and from wheelchairs; lifting and positioning; interpreting instructions; and assisting with physical needs and personal care such as feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
• Help manage the behavior of assigned student(s). This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student as needed.
• Recognize differences in student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs and adapt methods and interaction according.
• Work with assigned student(s) or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by teacher.
• Assist assigned students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned student(s).

• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in professional development programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

SALARY

Pay Grade 3 of the Paraprofessional Pay Schedule based on the salary schedule currently in effect by Board Policy and Administrative Regulation.

187 WORKDAYS

• Pay will be commensurate with experience.
