Qualifications

Description

Starting Rate: $20 - $21 /hour based on experience

Ombudsman Educational Services, a growing organization with a social mission to offer hope, is seeking an Instructional Aide to join our Alternative Education team. This role offers meaningful work in a culture that values innovation, creative expression, and personal and professional growth.

As an Instructional Aide, you will support high school students individually and in groups, assist in delivering instruction, and implement IEPs. Your responsibilities include:

  1. Creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
  2. Implementing instructional and behavioral strategies aligned with IEP goals.
  3. Monitoring student learning and adapting strategies as needed.
  4. Tracking academic progress and communicating with teachers.
  5. Managing student behavior proactively and collaboratively.
  6. Supporting students facing academic challenges across various domains.
  7. Documenting student behavior and progress accurately.
  8. Preparing reports and documentation for compliance and continuity.
  9. Communicating with students, staff, and parents effectively.
  10. Maintaining confidentiality and upholding privacy standards.
  11. Participating in accreditation and school meetings.
  12. Responding to feedback and demonstrating professional growth.
  13. Performing additional duties as needed, with flexibility and teamwork.

Qualifications Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with passing basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
  • Licensed or in process of obtaining paraprofessional credential.
  • Prior experience with high school students, especially in alternative or special education.
  • Experience working with students with learning disabilities or behavioral challenges.
  • Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergencies.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of instructional technology and basic office equipment.
