Job summary

Genesee Lake School, a MyPath company, seeks an Instructional Aide to support students with special needs in a structured educational setting. You will coordinate with teachers, document daily activities, and use approved methods to supervise and educate students.

This role emphasizes building skills, maintaining calmness under pressure, and modeling positive behavior. The position requires at least a high school diploma, 21+ years old, and eligibility for the Wisconsin DPI Instructional Aide

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with special needs students preferred.
  • Eligible for Instructional Aide license through Wisconsin DPI.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems.
  • Remain calm under pressure and work well alone or on a team.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with classroom teacher or supervisor to discuss daily activities, academics, behaviors, and medical concerns.
  • Complete and submit paperwork, lesson plans, and behavior data on schedule.
  • Use approved treatment techniques while supervising and educating students.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with behavior management techniques used at GLS.
  • Serve as a role model for students, staff, and community.
  • Engage students in active learning using curriculum resources.
  • Provide constructive feedback to staff and ensure policy compliance.

Hours will follow our school schedule which is on-going year round. During times when the students do not have school (holidays, vacations) there will not be scheduled hours, but there is an *option* to pick up in our residential program.
