Job summary

Genesee Lake School is seeking an Assistant Program Manager for its Intensive Residential program. You will supervise Direct Support Professionals, coach staff, and model best practices to support students with intensive needs in living, school, and community settings.

The role includes coordinating daily routines, behavior plan implementation, and documentation of progress and health. A driver’s license with a clean record is required, with on-call rotation and some evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or related field preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a therapeutic & supportive environment required.
  • Must hold and maintain agency status as a driver with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must complete additional training within 4 months of starting the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, coaching, modeling, engagement, and 2:1 support of students with intensive needs in living, activity, school, and community settings.
  • Assist with daily routines including personal care, nutrition, and safety support.
  • Monitor and implement individual support and behavior plans.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of student progress, health, and activities.
  • Support community integration and foster students’ independence through structured routines.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to Direct Support Professionals in day-to-day care and emergency situations.
  • Support new hire training, onboarding, and reinforcement of care protocols and behavior management strategies.
  • Monitor purchasing of supplies, equipment, and services; manage budget ledger.
  • Assist with preparing and managing staff schedules, transportation plans, and activity coordination.
  • Respond to staffing call-ins and help secure coverage while communicating with the Program Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and team; attend meetings including Individual Treatment planning and medication reviews.
  • Work as part of interdisciplinary team to champion interventions across programs.
  • Train program teams during transitions.

Education

Empowered by Everyone to Transform Lives.OverviewGenesee Lake School is currently seeking an Assistant Program Manager for their Intensive Residential program.Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Care & SupportProvides supervision, coaching, modeling, engagement, and 2:1 support of students with intensive needs in living, activity, school, and community settings.Assist with daily routines including personal care, nutrition, and safety support.Monitor and implement individual support and behavior plans.Ensure timely and accurate documentation of student progress, health, and activities.Support community integration and help foster students’ independence through consistent structure and encouragement.Team Leadership & TrainingProvide guidance and role modeling to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in day-to-day care and emergency situations.Support new hire training, onboarding, and reinforcement of care protocols and behavior management strategies.Support and implement agency and individual treatment approaches for students as identified in individual treatment plans and/or education plans as established by a Licensed Therapist and the treatment team.Monitors purchasing of supplies, equipment, and services for students and program area. Processes monthly receipts and credit card statement and updates the budget ledger.Operations & SchedulingAssist with preparing and managing staff schedules, transportation plans, and activity coordination.Respond to staffing call-ins and help secure coverage while communicating with the Program Manager.Communication & CollaborationCollaborate with the Program Manager, Program Coordinator, and team members to meet resident and program needs.Maintain clear, professional communication with staff, guardians, external providers, and stakeholders.Attend and contribute to meetings including Individual Treatment planning and medication reviews.Works as a part of an interdisciplinary team that includes therapists, case coordinators, SLPs, OTs, medical staff, and education staff, collaborating to champion use of behavioral and intensive therapeutic interventions and strategies across programs with GLS.Works with internal teams to transition students to a specific group. Provides training, modeling, and consultation for program teams as students transition and integrates into standardized programming.Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED + 4 years of relevant work experience required.
