Job summary

William & Mary Libraries is seeking an Instruction and Research Librarian to design and deliver dynamic teaching, learning, and research services at a premier university. You will work with faculty and students, providing instruction and one-on-one research support across disciplines.

Preference is given to candidates who can develop expertise in government and international relations. This is an in-person, 12-month, non-tenure track professional position reporting to the Head of Research

Qualifications

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree in library/information science (conferred by appointment date).
  • Experience providing instruction or research assistance in a library setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Understanding of trends and best practices in information literacy.
  • Willingness to develop expertise in government and international relations librarianship.

Join William & Mary Libraries as the Instruction and Research Librarian and contribute to designing and delivering dynamic teaching, learning, and research services at one of the nation’s premier universities. As part of a nine-member Research team, this role engages directly with faculty and students, providing instruction and one-on-one research support across disciplines.

Libraries

While the team functions as generalists, preference is given to candidates able to develop expertise in government and international relations. Training and support will be provided if needed.

This is an in-person, full-time, permanent position reporting to the Head of Research Services. Librarians at William & Mary are 12-month Professional Faculty (non-tenure track). The role evolves as library needs and technologies develop.

  • Participate in the information literacy program

Libraries & Museums

  • Teach library skills and deliver course-integrated instruction

  • Serve as a liaison to academic departments and campus groups

Education

Conditions of Employment
