Job summary

The Georgia Department of Education is recruiting for an experienced Instruction Paraprofessional at the Georgia Academy for the Blind in Macon, Georgia. Under direct supervision, you will assist the instructor/teacher in providing education and training to students who are visually impaired with other disabilities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of instructional/childcare experience preferred.
• Paraprofessional certificate preferred.
• ABA therapy or similar skill set may be required by student IEP.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in maintaining an effective learning environment.
• Assist students with daily living and functional training activities.
• Plan and conduct child development activities.
• Monitor and supervise classroom functions.
• Obtain and prepare instructional materials in accessible formats.
• Document student progress.
• Attend staff development programs and seminars.
• May serve on committees.
• Deliver ABA therapy or related skills as required by the IEP.
