Job summary

Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 2- Dental

**This position is Open until Filled.**

South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) seeks a highly motivated and qualified candidate to fill a part‑time Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 2 in the Dental department.

This position supports the College’s mission to support student success in post‑secondary academic transfer and workforce education that meets the needs of the South Sound region. This is seen in supporting efforts to implement, administer, and coordinate instruction for students, staff, and the public on the content, policies, procedures, and activities of the Allied Health programs, as well as ensuring compliance with all state and federal accrediting bodies.

What You’ll Do

The Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 2 role involves supporting efforts to implement, administer, and coordinate instruction for students, staff, and the public related to the Dental Programs. This includes overseeing content, policies, procedures, and activities, as well as ensuring compliance with all state and federal accrediting bodies.

Essential Function- Maintain Lab Areas and Equipment

Tasks include:

  • Prepare and deploy materials for in-class labs
  • Dispose of lab materials in accordance with OSHA, MSDS, and SPSCC safety standards
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the Allied Health labs
  • Apply troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills for hardware and software used in academic settings
  • Maintain a quarterly and/or weekly log book for equipment maintenance and quality assurance testing
Essential Function: Provide Instruction Support as Needed

Tasks include:

  • Provide opportunities for students to practice their skills during open‑lab sessions
  • Prepare labs daily with specified supplies, equipment, and support materials
  • Prepare kits for selected skills as needed
  • Assist faculty with various tasks related to student learning in both lab and simulation spaces
  • Provide orientation for faculty and/or students in the use of new equipment or materials
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions throughout the year to develop and deliver best practices in college tutoring.
  • Support the college’s mission by creating a work environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking
Qualifications You Possess:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of full‑time experience/training as a dental assistant OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Current Registered Dental Assisting with the state of Washington
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks, maintain office confidentiality, and accommodate numerous interruptions.
  • Strong commitment to customer service.
  • Strong aptitude for attention to detail and accuracy of information.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluation situations, solving problems, and making decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others and function as a team member.
  • Knowledge of computers and software applications, specifically MS Office suite: Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
