Job summary

Livingstone College is seeking an Institutional Data Specialist to oversee the data lifecycle from ingestion to reporting. You will work within the Office for Institutional Research to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely data for budgets, grants, and operations.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, with dashboards and data security as core duties. This is a full-time exempt position based in Salisbury, NC.

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Suite; ability to organize activities and work well with others.
• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities; manage time-sensitive projects concurrently.
• A degree in data analytics, computer science, economics, or a related field, plus 2–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education, specialized training and directly related professional experience with software used for data manipulation.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development and documentation of standardized data collection and intake processes.
• Coordinate with internal and external researchers to obtain datasets.
• Clean, validate, and standardize datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Analyze datasets to support rapid response requests from leadership and stakeholders.
• Assist in data storage systems, dashboards, and secure access for authorized users.
• Present complex data to a wide range of audiences as needed.
• Ensure compliance with data handling agreements and confidentiality standards.
• Experience in project management is required.
• Other duties as assigned.
