Job summary

The Laurels of Chagrin Falls is seeking a Cook to prepare high-quality, nutritious meals for residents in accordance with menus, dietary restrictions, and sanitation standards. Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred.
• Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and infection control practices.

Responsibilities

• Supervises culinary staff in the absence of the Chef or Certified Dietary Manager.
• Handles and stores all food according to facility procedures, safe food handling guidelines, state and federal requirements.
• Follow standardized recipes.
• Prepare foods that correspond to the menu cycles developed by Registered Dietitians.
• Cooks or prepares meals at proper temperatures and times.
• Uses food supplies and equipment efficiently to prevent waste.
• Maintains food alternates to accommodate resident choices and refusals.
• Supervises culinary staff regarding storage, preparation, tray assembly, and cleaning.
• Operates institutional food prep equipment per guidelines and maintenance schedules.
• Inspects trays after meal service and reports findings to the CDM.
• Handles and disposes of food items according to procedures and regulations.
• Keeps workspaces and equipment clean and safe; reports issues promptly.
• Notifies supervisor of any pest signs and assists with surveys.
