Description of Work

Reporting directly to the Associate Warden for Programs, this position is responsible for supervision of classifications services at a correctional facility housing over 1,756 offenders. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serving as chairperson of the Facility Classification Committee, supervisor of offender job and program assignments, supervisor of transfer operations, and supervisor of the records office.
  • Training institution staff on classification issues.
  • Coordinating and preparing presentations for the Director’s Classification Committee hearings.
  • Assigning Case Managers to offenders and periodic audits of the Facility’s case management operations.
  • Providing supervision of the classification process regarding custody and control status reviews.
  • Performing other duties as delegated by the Correctional Programs Director I.

Salary Range: $43,267 - $75,718

Preferred Skills

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

Scotland Correctional Institution is located in Laurinburg, North Carolina and houses up to 1,800 male offenders in a close, medium, and minimum custody facility.
