Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of AV or electronics installation experience.
  • Connecticut Low Voltage License or higher is required.
  • Knowledge of safety codes and standards, including AVIXA CTS certification.

What You’ll Do

The Installation Technician 3 will perform installation tasks for AVI-SPL contracted projects, including but not limited to: cable pulls, cable terminations, system equipment and components, rack fabrication, and wiring layout for equipment and metal fabrication. The Technician will lead and direct installation crews on larger, more complex projects by coordinating and reporting progress to the Project Manager, ensuring projects meet time, scope, budget, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction standards.

Day-To-Day Responsibilities
  • Perform installation tasks based on project scope and directives
  • Lead site teams, mentor Level 1 and 2 Technicians, and verify work quality
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and blueprints
  • Use hand and power tools for soldering, crimping, and other AV system tasks
  • Test cabling and system functionality, and support control and DSP system loads
  • Assist engineers or programmers with minor programming changes
  • Manage equipment and tools on-site
  • Coordinate with office staff for return material authorizations
  • Support project managers with site supervision, communication, and documentation
  • Act as a customer liaison on-site and handle change requests
  • Coordinate with other trades and perform client training as needed
  • Travel to various job sites as required

  • Work environment may be similar to a construction site.
Must-Haves
  • Connecticut Low Voltage License or higher (L2, T2, C6, E2)
  • Effective communication skills
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of wiring configurations and signal flow for AV systems
  • Leadership experience on medium to large projects
  • Minor control system programming and troubleshooting skills
  • Use of industry-specific test equipment
  • Knowledge of safety codes and standards, including AVIXA CTS certification
  • Valid driver’s license and clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • 4-6 years of AV or electronics installation experience
Nice-To-Haves
  • Telecommunications System Technician certification (TST)
  • Formal education in AV or Electronics
  • CDL license
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Additional industry certifications and OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course
  • Experience as a project site lead
  • Ability to obtain security clearances if required
