AV Installation Technician III
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform installation tasks for audiovisual projects including but not limited to: pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting projects, and metal fabrication
• Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints
• Use hand and power tools to solder and crimp connectors along with various other AV systems related tasks
• Assist with basic mechanical fabrication and basic rack wiring
• Projector and screen support structure installations
• Test point to point functionality of systems
• Field installation of control programs (Crestron/Extron) – upload and download capability
• Mentor Level I and Level II Technicians
• Load and test code for control and DSP systems
• Make minor programming changes under the direction of an engineer or programmer
• Perform client training as needed
• Customer liaison
• Responsible for job documentation as needed
• Demonstrate job site leadership
• Travel to various job sites required (overnight stays on some projects is also required)
Skills and Abilities
• Effectively communicate with employees, customers, and colleagues
• Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner
• Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines
• Basic computer knowledge
• Knowledge of basic signal flow for audio, video, and control
• Ability to manage small to medium projects
• Minor programming capability (Creston/Extron) – changes and troubleshooting
Education and/or Experience
• Minimum of 3 years of audiovisual installation experience
• Formal education in Electronics or related field
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
External Training
• InfoComm Quick Start to the audiovisual industry
• InfoComm CTS General Certification
• OSHA 10-Hour Construction Course
• Essentials of Crestron Programming
• DSP systems (Basic Setup)
• QSC Q-Sys Level 1 Training
• BIAMP Systems Audio Training
Introduction to Project Management
• Perform Lead Role on at least 4 projects totaling at least $50,000 each and perform the lead role on 1 project with a minimum of $250,000
• Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets LIG Driving Privileges standards
