Job summary

Harris Company in Fargo, ND is seeking a Building Automation Installation Specialist to assemble, route, install and service wiring for engineered building automation and security systems. Under supervision, you will test systems, install conduits, and ensure safety and code compliance, while contributing to project planning and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Connect wires to electrical components as needed for a complete and operational system.
  • Test electrical systems or circuits using testing devices to ensure safety and compatibility.
  • Place conduit, pipes, or tubing and pull wires to complete circuits.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install or repair wiring.
  • Assist with preparing completed job as-built documentation.
  • Maintain assigned equipment and inventory on vehicle if provided.
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine wiring locations.

Responsibilities

  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment.
  • Responsible for personal and team safety on jobs. May include pre-task planning and tool box talks
  • Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring or equipment using hand tools or power tools.
  • May assist with preparing completed job as-built documentation.
  • Completes and submits labor and expense reports and paperwork in a timely, complete and accurate manner.

Description

The purpose of your role as a Building Automation Installation Specialist

Under direct supervision, the BA Install Specialist assembles, plans, routes, installs, and repairs wiring and other electrical components and equipment necessary to install engineered building automation and security systems. Contributes to the desired safety and work culture of the organization

Electrical Wiring/Installation:

Documentation:

  • May assist with preparing completed job as-built documentation
  • Completes and submits labor and expense reports and paperwork in a timely, complete and accurate manner

Material and Equipment:

  • Maintains assigned equipment and literature
  • If company vehicle is provided – maintains vehicle and inventory on vehicle necessary for efficient job completion
  • May monitor assigned jobs for changes in materials or equipment and notify supervisor
  • May provide job material requests to supervisor as they are needed

Project Planning:

  • Examines project plans, specifications and submittal documentation then reviews with Project Manager to get a complete project understanding
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes

Other:

  • Maintains basic product knowledge, procedures and methods, and continuously learns more advanced product applications
  • Responsible for staying up to date on company installation standards, safety training and current building codes as they pertain to scope of work
  • Manages own backlog to ensure timely and accurate job completion
  • Keeps supervisor informed of job status and elevates problems as needed
