Job summary

Holman Enterprises in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking an Installation Mechanic A to join our upfitting division. Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm. Pay: $22 per hour based on experience.

You will assemble vehicles, install and connect complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and crane systems. Responsibilities include wiring, welding, diagnosing issues, performing tests, reading schematics, and ensuring quality on every installation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of vehicle, engine, or equipment repair.
• Intermediate electrical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Intermediate hydraulic troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and build vehicles according to work instructions, blueprints, and specifications.

• Install truck bodies, equipment, boxes, and specialty components.
• Fill vehicle systems with required fluids and verify proper operation.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and build vehicles according to work instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
• Install and connect mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and crane systems.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic issues.
• Perform MIG welding, cutting fabrication, and equipment installation as required.
• Conduct quality inspections to identify leaks, defects, or installation concerns.
• Verify completion of all work order requirements and maintain accurate documentation.
• Record equipment serial numbers and vehicle information.
• Organize and install vehicle and equipment operation manuals.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, torches, plasma cutters, and lifting equipment.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following all company safety policies.
• Support continuous improvement efforts and communicate process improvement opportunities.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to safely operate cutting torches and plasma cutters.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Welding Certification or willingness to obtain.
• Experience with truck equipment installation, utility vehicles, vocational trucks, or crane systems.
• Familiarity with electric-over-hydraulic and central hydraulic systems.
• Experience using computer-based diagnostic software and equipment.
