Job summary

Arkansas Public Safety Solutions (APSS) is seeking an APSS Install Technician to install, service, and support security and life-safety systems for government, enterprise, and education customers. This role requires extensive travel and on-site customer interaction.

The technician will install cameras, access control hardware, and backhaul equipment, perform programming and commissioning, and train customers on turnover. Travel and on-call duties are a regular part of this position.

Qualifications

• Relevant technical experience and certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and troubleshoot Video Surveillance Systems (VSS), Access Control Management (ACM), BDA/DAS, and related APSS solutions.
• Pull, terminate, label, and test cabling; mount devices; ensure equipment installed per APSS plans.
• Complete system programming, provisioning, analytics configuration, and commissioning prior to site turnover.
• Install cameras, servers, access control hardware, backhaul equipment, and related infrastructure.
• Provide customer training and support successful system turnover.
• Respond to service calls and reprioritize work as required.
• Maintain project documentation and participate in weekly project management calls.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective:
An APSS Install Technician (IT) is responsible for post-sale installation, service, and support of all systems and solutions sold by Arkansas Public Safety Solutions (APSS). This role includes installing, programming, servicing, and troubleshooting security and life-safety systems for Government, Enterprise, and Education customers. The IT frequently works independently, manages daily workloads to meet project timelines, and serves as a primary onsite representative to customers. Professionalism, technical competence, and strong communication skills are essential. This position participates in an on-call rotation and requires extensive travel.

• Install, service, and troubleshoot Video Surveillance Systems (VSS), Access Control Management (ACM), BDA/DAS, Weapons Detection, and related APSS solutions.
• Pull, terminate, label, and test cabling; mount devices; and ensure all equipment is installed per APSS design and implementation plans.
• Complete system programming, provisioning, analytics configuration, and commissioning prior to site turnover.
• Install cameras, servers, access control hardware (strikes, cans, mercury boards), backhaul equipment, and associated infrastructure.
• Provide customer training and support successful system turnover.
• Support the PMO during post-sale by providing technical input into implementation plans, install preferences, and scope changes.
• Respond to service calls and reprioritize work as required.
• Communicate scope changes, technical risks, or site constraints to PMO, Sales, and Management.
• Maintain complete ownership of project documentation, including version control and as-built documentation.
• Conduct QA site visits to mitigate rework and support continuous improvement of field installations.
• Stay current with APSS product offerings, technical options, and required trainings.
• Support inventory management and proper use of tools, vehicles, and equipment.
• Participate in weekly update and project management calls.
• Participate in on-call rotation and extended work hours when required to meet project demands.
• Perform other duties as assigned by APSS management.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Lead-level technicians may oversee and coordinate onsite labor to ensure projects are delivered on time and in accordance with design specifications.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This position operates in a variety of environments including new construction sites, schools, offices, factories, and outdoor locations in varying weather conditions.

Physical demands may include long hours and the ability to: - Stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, and use hands and arms frequently - Lift and move equipment and materials up to 100 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, during normal hours of operation. This position may also require occasional weekend work.

Travel:

95 percent travel is required for the position.
