Job summary

Michigan State University’s School of Social Work invites applications for 4–6 teaching positions to cover courses in social work practice methods, human behavior and the social environment, social welfare policy, and research methods. Primary duties include updating course materials, guiding student learning, maintaining weekly office hours, and timely assessment.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Social Work is required for faculty ranks.
• MSW is required for Instructor ranks; Ph.D. is required for Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor rank by the date of employment.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching courses and/or seminars.

Position Summary

The MSU School of Social Work, within the College of Social Science, is dedicated to educating students for ethical, competent, responsive, and innovative social work practice, and to conducting and disseminating high quality research that improves the well-being of the most vulnerable in society. Our teaching, research, and outreach synergistically promote social justice, positive change, and solutions to the problems facing broad cross section individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. More than 600 students are enrolled in our CSWE- accredited BASW and MSW programs, and our PhD program.

The School of Social Work supports MSU’s outreach mission through online and hybrid learning utilizing technology and innovative strategies to reach students across Michigan. We also provide multiple opportunities for creative interdisciplinary teaching and research, community-based studies, and partnerships with government agencies and neighborhoods.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Social Work

Minimum Requirements

• MSW for Instructor Ranks; Ph.D. for Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor Rank by the date of employment.
• The successful candidate must also have demonstrated experience in teaching courses and/or seminars
