Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or higher.
• Professional Teacher Certification or Montessori Credential is a plus.
• Genuine love of children.
• Working knowledge of achievement, aptitude, and diagnostic testing of students.

Responsibilities

• Immediately corrects and/or reports safety issues, accidents, and incidents to the Lead Teacher, the Dean of Students, and/or the Head of School.
• Keeps an organized and clean environment according to Lead Teacher directives, including proper storage of classroom supplies.
• Collaborates with and follows Lead Teacher methods and Discovery's policies; communicates respectfully.
• Follows lesson plans; maintains continuity in the classroom in the Lead Teacher's absence; may establish lesson plans independently.
• Monitors and assists children with classroom jobs.
• Manages arrivals and dismissals with strict adherence to Emergency Contact protocol.
• Ensures the safety and well-being of children in charge until dismissed to a responsible adult.
• Assists with other projects, programs, and planning as requested by leadership.
• Establishes positive relationships with students; promotes mutual respect and goodwill.
• Notifies Coordinator/Head of School of difficulties with children, parents, or staff; personal difficulties that affect performance.
• Models integrity, curiosity, responsibility, creativity, and respect for diversity; embodies Discovery Be Our Guest attitude.
• Assists with execution of emergencies and drills per protocol.
• Handles toileting and proper hygiene as required.
