Responsibilities

• Creates a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students enrolled in an educational setting.
• Establishes effective rapport with students and motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge for responsible citizenship.
• Maintains order and discipline in the classroom.
• Prepares for cases assigned and shows written evidence of preparation when requested.
• Employs varied instructional techniques and media tailored to students' needs and locations.
• Strives to implement the school system’s philosophy of education and instructional goals.
• Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Upholds school rules and policies; makes time available to students and parents outside instructional hours.
• Attends faculty and department meetings; assists in selecting books and instructional materials.
• Fosters open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
• Pursues ongoing professional growth through workshops and advanced coursework.
• Maintains compliance with all Special Education federal and state requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

Education
