Job summary

WNY Maritime Charter School in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Certified - Teaching - Special Education Teacher to plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in a variety of settings. Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to work with peers and supervisors.
• Ability to motivate and instruct students.
• Experience in at least one core content area (preferred).
• Creates an educational climate that promotes success, safety, and stimulation.
• Completes weekly resource room lesson plans based on NYSED standards and addresses IEP goals.
• Creates an IEP and, when necessary, an FBA.
• Collaborates with general education teachers to meet IEP-based needs.
• Provides instructional support as a collaborative teacher with accommodations.
• Demonstrates subject matter knowledge, critical thinking, and individualized instruction.
• Create and share effective behavior management plans.
• Serve as a case manager for SPED students.
• Attend department and grade-level meetings.
• Communicate effectively with parents.
• Complete weekly data trackers and quarterly progress reports.
• Participate in CPSE/CSE meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA/FERPA.
