Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals and communicates objectives to students.
• Employs varied instructional techniques and media as appropriate.
• Strives to implement district philosophy and objectives.
• Assesses student progress and provides reports as required.
• Diagnoses learning disabilities and seeks district specialist assistance as needed.
• Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Assists administration in enforcing policies governing student life and conduct.
• Plans to be available to students and parents outside instructional hours when required.
• Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides and volunteers and evaluates their performance.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attends staff meetings; performs other tasks as assigned.
