Job summary

The Howard County Public School System seeks a Secondary Mathematics Teacher to foster deep understanding and procedural fluency among students. You will plan instruction aligned with system-wide goals and use evidence of student thinking to inform instruction.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree and Maryland licensure for Mathematics 7-12; preferred: three years of teaching experience. This is a 10-month position with the HCEA salary scale and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an applicable field of education.
• Meets the Maryland State Department of Education licensure requirements for Mathematics 7-12.
• Three previous years of teaching experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement instructional programs that adhere to system-wide goals and priorities.
• Prepare, document, and effectively implement daily lesson plans aligned to HCPSS curricula.
• Develop and nurture a learning environment for student growth across cognitive, social, and emotional domains.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals and student outcomes.
• Create a classroom that supports engagement, academic language development, and student discourse.
