Qualifications

• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements.
• One of the following additional qualifications: Associate or bachelor degree in early childhood education or related field; CDA credential; Montessori credential; or eight years of experience in a nationally accredited child care program or a Texas Rising Star Program.
• Ability to educate with age-appropriate language and teaching methods.
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials to meet diverse learning needs and present subject matter per TEA guidelines.
• Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to guide instruction.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for IEPs as needed.
• Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.
• Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers and oversee completion.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress toward learning outcomes.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved outside activities.
• Be a positive role model for students and support the school district's mission.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and manage student behavior in line with the Student Code of Conduct.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.
• Compile, maintain, and file reports and records as required.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and the community.
• Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills and comply with district policies.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Direct the work of assigned instructional aides.
