Job summary

Menlo School seeks a passionate Speech and Debate Coach for our Middle and High School program, with level assignment based on expertise. The role is part-time, on-site, and involves coaching, strategy, and mentorship, along with travel to tournaments during the season.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, the coach will guide students in parliamentary formats, lead practices, provide feedback, and help cultivate a respectful, academically rigorous debate culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• College-level coursework preferred for advancement.
• Strong communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach weekly team practices (5:30 PM - 7:00 PM) and allocate additional time for questions and enrichment.
• Coach students individually and in teams, providing actionable feedback on rounds to drive improvement.
• Chaperone and judge at weekend tournaments; support travel logistics and ensure compliance with school policies.
