CONTINUING EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR - (PART-TIME)
OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGE

Olive-Harvey College is currently seeking part-time ContinuingEducation Instructors. If you have passion for teaching andlearning, and are committed to the mission of the communitycollege, consider joining our team. The ideal candidate will havedemonstrated success in the classroom by developing and usingeffective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs andengage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving.Continuing Education courses are short, focused courses offered forpersonal growth and professional development. We are currentlyseeking instructors to teach non-credit, adult enrichment courseson various topics including Art, Music, Travel, Computers, RealEstate, Finance and Investment, Fitness and more. Most courses foradults meet once a week for three hours on a weekday evening orSaturday morning for 1 - 8 weeks. No academic credit isawarded.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• • Instruct/facilitate courses to meet learning outcomes, andpromote students’ active participation in their own learning
  • Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve usingdiscipline-specific thinking strategies
  • Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academicand professional communities, and promote collaboration andteamwork among members of these communities
  • Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• • Degree/certifications may be required dependent on courseoffering
  • Teaching experience not required; industry experiencevalued
  • Knowledge of Brightspace, preferred but not required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability tocommunicate with diverse group of staff and students required
  • Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population isdesired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of thecommunity college
  • Must be able to spend majority the of time outdoors andtolerate a variety of weather conditions if necessary.

Salary based on course and requirements: range:$17.00-$.80.00 per hour
