Job summary

Hurley Middle School in Seekonk, MA, seeks a Middle School Visual Arts Teacher for a long-term substitute position starting January 4, 2027, through the 2026-2027 school year. The role reports to the Building Principal and may supervise a paraprofessional.

Duties include delivering arts instruction and coordinating with the team to meet district requirements. Qualified candidates may hold a Visual Arts license (5-12) or be eligible for licensure.

Qualifications

• Preferred license or eligibility for licensure in Visual Arts (5-12) per MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students and adults.
• Commitment to staying current in content knowledge and teaching strategies.
• Ability to relate well with students, colleagues, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide visual arts instruction aligned to MA Curriculum Frameworks and district standards.
• Monitor student understanding and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments as needed.
• Evaluate and refine instructional approaches, including use of available technologies.
• Support diverse learners and implement accommodations per IEPs and 504 plans.
• Attend faculty and department meetings and contribute to school goals.
• Collaborate with team and building staff to advance the arts program.
