Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepare lessons with accommodations for individual differences.
• Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourage students to set and maintain classroom standards of behavior.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons and units.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media suited to the location and student needs.
• Strive to implement district education philosophy and goals.
• Assess student progress and provide reports as required.
• Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
• Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Assist administration in enforcing policies on student life and conduct.
• Develop reasonable classroom rules and maintain order fairly.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
• Plan and supervise assignments for aides and volunteers; evaluate their performance.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Participate in district and campus staff development.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues.
• Communicate with students, parents, and community members.
• Prepare and submit lesson plans in the school platform.
• Maintain minimum grades in Gradebook timely.
• Meet mentor teacher regularly if new.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
