Job summary

St. Catherine of Siena School in Seattle seeks a long-term substitute to teach Middle School Math and 7th Grade Homeroom from October through March 2027.

The role also includes providing math support for middle school students and leading a middle school elective. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Education or Mathematics, are pursuing a Washington State teaching certificate, and have prior middle school math teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or related field (Master's preferred).
• Washington State teaching certificate or progress toward earning it.
• Catholic affiliation with knowledge of Catholic doctrine and traditions (preferred).
• Experience teaching middle school or high school math.
• Strong background in middle school math instruction and intervention strategies.
• Ability to differentiate for a range of learning needs.
• Ability to create a welcoming, faith-filled learning environment.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Focus on building foundational skills for algebra and number sense.
• Develop and extend core algebraic concepts with increasing complexity.
• Build a strong foundation for high school algebra through linear and nonlinear relationships.
• 8th Grade Geometry: transformations, trig, Pythagorean Theorem, geometry proofs.
• Lead middle school elective courses and a weekly advisory session.
• Electives meet four times per week with a mixed-grade cohort (6th–8th).
