Job summary

Uncommon Schools seeks an high school math teacher to join its NYC area network. You’ll lead math instruction across grades, leverage data to tailor learning, and engage families to support student success. The role emphasizes collaboration, professional development, and a commitment to equity.

Responsibilities include teaching Algebra/Geometry/Calculus with AP prep, analyzing student data weekly, and fostering a positive school culture through relationships and mentorship.

Qualifications

• A demonstrated commitment to supporting students’ social emotional and academic development.
• An enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students.
• A self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes and achieve objectives.
• Required Experience: 1-2 years in urban K-12 settings; academic expertise in Mathematics, Science, Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
• Bachelor’s degree and NY certification eligibility; must enroll in a teacher prep program if no education degree.

Responsibilities

• Instruction: teach math content (Algebra/Geometry/Calculus) and prepare students for AP and college coursework.
• Data Analysis: meet weekly to review trends in student work and differentiate instruction.
• School Culture: build relationships with students and families, participate in weekly meetings and share instructional goals.
