Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an elementary school teacher to provide instruction under moderate supervision, develop lesson plans, supervise and assess students, and implement Board of Education policies under the principal’s direction.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and NC teaching certification or eligibility, with a 10-month full-time schedule and a focus on meeting diverse student needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• Valid NC Teaching certification or eligible for NC Teaching certification in assigned area
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Adhere to the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards
• Assist school administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct
• Plan and implement a program of study in the assigned content area
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods
• Create a classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning objectives
• Manage classroom goals, objectives, and assessment in line with district curriculum
• Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request
• Diagnose learning challenges and maintain records for IEPs and 504 plans
• Prepare instructional materials and activities for diverse learners
• Engage parents/guardians in student progress and school initiatives
• Attend PLCs and professional development for instructional planning
