Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Teaches assigned classes using state and local programs adopted by the Floyd County Board of Education and provides other learning activities.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each pupil.
• Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize time for instruction.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and good citizenship in the classroom.
• Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps records, and prepares progress reports.
• Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
• Creates an effective and safe learning environment with displays, bulletin boards, and learning centers.
• Identifies pupils' needs and cooperates with staff in addressing learning and health issues including IEP and GSSP.
• Maintains competence through professional growth activities as identified by needs.
• Administers assessments and participates in faculty committees and supervision of pupil activities.
• Reports to classroom before and after school as required.
• Maintains reports and records required by regulations.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized instruction to adapt curriculum.
• Translates lessons into learning experiences to maximize time for instruction.
• Monitors and addresses student needs on an ongoing basis.
• Communicates challenging scholastic expectations clearly and positively.
• Establishes mutually respectful behavior.
• Demonstrates positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
