Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Meet Texas “highly qualified” standards.
• Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for level and subject area of assignment (required for ESL/Bilingual, SPED and preferred for other subjects).

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for individual differences.
• Prepare for classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request by supervisor.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons and units.
• Employ varied instructional techniques and media suitable for location and students.
• Assess students' progress and provide progress reports as required.
• Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as needed.
• Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policies.
• Assist administration in implementing policies for student life and conduct.
• Develop reasonable classroom rules and maintain order fairly.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related matters.
• Plan and supervise teacher aides and volunteers and evaluate their performance.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Participate in district and campus staff development.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues.
• Communicate openly with students, parents, and community members.
• Submit lesson plans on time using the school's platform.
