Job summary

Waco ISD seeks a dedicated 1st Grade teacher to join our elementary team. This exempt/contracted role reports to the principal and focuses on delivering district-appropriate instruction and a positive learning environment for all students.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements for the assigned grade, and demonstrated competency in the core subject area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned.
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district curriculum and show evidence of preparation.
• Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
• Present subject matter according to TEA guidelines and district policies.
• Plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment for diverse learners.
• Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instruction.
• Work with staff to modify curricula for students with IEPs as needed.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
• Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
• Communicate with parents and conduct conferences.
• Attend faculty meetings and participate in committees.
