Job summary

South Asian Youth Action (SAYA) in Elmhurst, NY, is hiring a part-time Mentor for an elementary after-school program at PS 124 in South Ozone Park. The role focuses on creating engaging, safe, and inclusive activities for students while supervising them.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or current college students preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience working with school age children required.
• Interest and experience in youth development, academic enrichment and creating interactive, educational activities.
• Comply with School Age Child Care (SACC) requirements including background check and medical clearance.
• Bilingual is considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create a fun, safe, and structured environment for youth which is inclusive to all youth, parents, staff, and stakeholders.
• Plan, develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum including interactive activities and games.
• Provide homework help and encourage academic progress.
• Actively monitor and engage youth during all program activities.
• Collaborate with supervisory staff and report any misused or damaged materials.
