Job summary

Unparalleled Preparatory Academy (UPA) – Part-Time Music Teacher (Contract). You will teach two sections of 7th Grade Music daily and develop beginning instrumental skills through an after-school band program. The role reports to the Dean of Instruction and runs August 2026–May 2027 as a 1099 contractor without employee benefits.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in education or music and strong classroom management. Experience with middle school music and band programs is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Education, Music Education, Music Performance, or related field.
• Ability to teach beginning instrumental music.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Teach two daily sections of 7th Grade Music.
• Plan and deliver standards-aligned lessons.
• Introduce students to music theory, rhythm, notation, instrumental performance, and music appreciation.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
• Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment.
• Organize and lead band rehearsals one to two times per week.
• Prepare students for school performances and community events.
• Assist with selecting music and organizing performances.
• Foster student commitment and enthusiasm for participation in band.
• Attend required staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
• Maintain attendance and grade records; collaborate with staff.
