Job summary

Sonoco is seeking an Inspector Packer I in Forest City, NC for 3rd shift (11pm-7am) at $20.34/hr plus $0.44 shift differential. You will inspect finished goods, package products, and maintain production data in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include identifying safety concerns, detecting defects, operating a pallet jack, and upholding high quality while complying with safety standards. Attendance and teamwork are essential to success.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge and behavioral observation skills to identify safety concerns.
  • Able to detect visual and physical defects in finished products before packaging.
  • Able to maintain production data (scrap cause records, work order detail).
  • Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and package finished goods safely and efficiently.
  • Identify safety concerns and alert technicians as needed.
  • Record production data and scrap causes accurately.
  • Move materials with a pallet jack when required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and follow housekeeping procedures.
  • Work quickly with high craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Job description

Position: Inspector Packer I Location: Forest City, NC Rate: $20.34/hr + $0.44 for shift differential Shift: 3rd shift (11pm-7am)

While reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for inspecting and packaging all finished goods.

What you'll be doing:
  • Basic knowledge and behavioral observation skills to identify safety concerns.
  • Able to detect visual and physical defects in finished products before packaging.
  • Able to maintain production data (scrap cause records, work order detail).
  • Lifting, walking, stooping, bending, and leg and arm movement.
  • Alert technicians to quality or machine issues.
  • Using manual pallet jacks to move materials occasionally.
  • Be self-motivated individual who can multi-task in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the area and follow good housekeeping procedures.
  • Performs all duties in a manner that demonstrates the highest level of safety and quality.
  • Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.
  • You will need to have the ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention.
  • Flexibility to cover OT and weekend work when necessary.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
