Job summary

StandardAero, Inc. in Stockton, CA is seeking an NDT Inspector II to perform fluorescence, magnetic particle, eddy current, X-ray, and visual inspections on engines and components.

You will document servicing and repairs in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures. The role requires Level II NDT certification in MPI and FPI (or progress toward), a degree in a related field, and at least 1 year of NDT experience.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Quality Assurance, Aerospace, Quality Control/Inspection, or related field.
• NDT Level II certification in MPI and FPI, or progress toward Level II certification.
• Minimum 1 year of NDT inspection experience.
• Ability to obtain NAS 410 certification.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specs.
• Must meet U.S. Person ITAR requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs designated NDT and in-process inspection duties per policies and procedures, applicable regulations.
• Sets up, calibrates, and performs daily checks of NDT equipment and prepares components for inspection.
• Performs preliminary, hidden damage, progressive, final, and completion inspections on engines, accessories, or components.
• Ensures inspection documentation is complete and available for product release and reporting.
• Plans and prioritizes workload with Production and Engineering to meet schedules.
• Provides technical support for salvage schemes and prevents release of defective parts.
• Reviews technical data and may revise procedures to ensure compliant, quality products.
• Mentors other NDT staff and supports warranty reviews and decision-making.

As an NDT Inspector II, you will perform approved NDT (non-destructive testing) inspection including fluorescent penetrant, magnetic particle, eddy current, X-Ray, and visual to document the servicing and repair of gas turbine engines, aircraft components, parts or accessories in accordance with the Repair Station Manual, Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturers' specifications, approved technical data and policies/procedures.

What you'll do:

• Performs designated NDT and in-process inspection duties in accordance with StandardAero policies and procedures, applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, IPMs, and manufacturer specifications; completes required inspection records, reports, and forms, including FRA 337s.
• Sets up, calibrates, and performs daily checks of NDT equipment, ensuring equipment is in proper working order, and prepares components for inspection using available equipment and processes.
• Performs required preliminary, hidden damage, progressive, final, and completion inspections on overhauled or repaired engines, accessories, appliances, and components prior to product release and shipment.
• Ensures all required inspection documentation and records are accurately completed and available for product release and statistical reporting.
• Plans and prioritizes workload in coordination with Production and Engineering teams to meet scheduled completion times.
• Provides technical support for salvage scheme development for specific engines and components and takes appropriate action to prevent the release of defective, unserviceable, or un-airworthy parts.
• Reviews published technical data for applicability to NDT inspection procedures and may develop or revise procedures to support reliable, compliant, and quality products.
• May train, mentor, and guide other NDT employees, including employees in lower classifications, and provide technical knowledge for warranty reviews and decision-making.
• Creates investigation and production reports and completes documentation required to support warranty reviews and technical decision-making.
• Identifies and supports process, work-practice, and team-efficiency improvements to enhance quality and operational effectiveness.

Basic Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Quality Assurance, Aerospace, Quality Control/Inspection, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience.
• Completion of training in Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) and Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI).
• NDT Level II certification in MPI and FPI, or documented progress toward meeting Level II certification requirements, with the ability to complete remaining requirements within an agreed-upon timeframe.
• Minimum 1 year of experience performing NDT inspections using applicable methods.
• Ability to successfully complete required general, specific, and practical examinations for applicable MPI and/or FPI methods, achieving an average score of at least 80% with a minimum score of 70% on each examination.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification in accordance with NAS 410 requirements.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical manuals, work specifications, service bulletins, and written work instructions and operate applicable inspection equipment.
• Must meet U.S. Person requirements under applicable ITAR regulations.

Desired Skills

• Working knowledge of FAA Part 145 requirements applicable to inspection activities.
• Working knowledge of turbine engine principles, including test cell performance, assembly practices, vibration and failure analysis, and engine overhaul and repair procedures.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9000-series standards or other applicable regulatory and quality requirements.
• Experience with equipment setup and calibration and preparation of components for NDT inspection.
• Ability to pass required NDT and inspection vision examinations.
• Prefer a minimum twelve to eighteen (12-18) months ND inspection and evaluation experience with aircraft powerplants for FAA certification or be powerplant certified.
