Doña Ana County is seeking an Inspector I Electrical for the Community Development (Finance) department. The role involves inspecting buildings at various construction stages, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and county ordinances, and issuing permits and citations as needed.
Qualifications include a high school diploma and progression toward NM CID Electrical Inspector certification with ICC credentials within specified timelines.

Perform building inspection to determine electrical soundness and compliance with specifications and permit services for new and remodeled construction, design, quality of materials, use, and occupancy and locations of structures and buildings in Doña Ana County in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and county ordinances.
Other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Applicant shall qualify by meeting the requirements for examination for electrical inspector licensure within three (3) months of date of hire. Applicant shall acknowledge and meet the requirements for general building inspector by the State of NM, C.I.D. and NMAC as follows.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
In accordance with County policy and the required experience listed under letter B. No substitution for required education.
Valid driver's license. Must maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with County policy. Must obtain and maintain NM CID Electrical Inspector certification within three (3) months and Residential and Commercial Electrical Inspector certifications from the International Code Council within one (1) year of hire date. Additional ICC certification(s) preferred. Additional NM CID certification(s) preferred. An ER-1 or EE-98 license issued by the State of New Mexico or a similar license from another state preferred. Note: Applicants who have not obtained the required inspector certification and are qualifying based on prior experience must meet the experience requirements established by NMAC 14.6.5.8, including the required timeframe for qualifying experience.
Must pass pre-employment background check and driving record check.
