Cox Automotive is hiring an Inspector I to assess vehicle condition and document findings. You will review frame, paint, engine, and interior systems, and prepare supporting documentation with estimates.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, accurate reporting, and adherence to safety protocols. This position requires a valid driver’s license and ability to operate standard and automatic transmissions in a non-remote, on-site setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Generally, less than 2 years of related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to operate both standard and automatic transmission vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessment of vehicle condition and note damage or repairs.
  • Inspect frame, paint, engine, AC/heater, radio, navigation systems, tires, etc.
  • Prepare documentation including vehicle ID data, condition description, and repair cost estimates.
  • Maintain knowledge of labor rates, parts charges, and manufacturer updates; follow inspection procedures.
  • Conduct courtesy walk-around inspections.
  • Follow safety and health procedures.
  • May be required to move vehicles as directed.

Company Cox Automotive - USA Job Family Group Vehicle Operations Job Profile Inspector I Management Level Individual Contributor Flexible Work Option No remote option; must work at a specified Cox location Travel % No Work Shift Variable Compensation Hourly base pay rate is $15.10 - $22.60/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessment of vehicle condition, noting any damage or repair
  • Required for frame, paint, engine, AC/heater operation, radio, navigation systems, tires, etc.
  • Prepare support documentation related to vehicle condition - including
  • Vehicle identification data, condition description, repair costs estimate,
  • photographs, etc.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable labor rates, parts charges and - manufacturer's updates; adhere to work instructions/procedures regarding inspections/documentation.
  • Conduct courtesy walk-around inspections.
  • Follow all applicable safety and health related procedures.
  • May be required to locate, start and move vehicles as directed
Qualifications

Minimum

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Generally, less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Safe driver's needed; valid driver's license required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.

Preferred:

  • Must be detail-oriented, accurate, and able to multi-task.
  • General knowledge of mechanical and automotive body work.
  • Previous body shop, automotive background and mechanical experience.
Physical requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.
  • Vision requirements: close, distance, depth perception, and color - variations.
  • Must be able to work in varied weather conditions.
Work Environment

Exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Moderate noise level. May be exposed to fumes and odors.
