Job summary

Lear Corporation is seeking an inspector to oversee the finished fabric inspection process at our North Carolina facility. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to SOPs, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting and standing for long periods.

The successful candidate will ensure a safe work environment, participate in lean manufacturing practices, and coordinate with supervisors to maintain quality standards. Background in textile production is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect finished fabric for defects according to SOP.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and identify training opportunities to reduce accidents and injuries.
  • Meet daily production goals and align fabric ends using Swiftack.
  • Cut defects with scissors and sew fabric as required.
  • Record defects in the inspection system and notify supervisor of questionable material.
  • Prepare and log lab samples, and deliver swatches to the worktable.

Job description

Under the direction of the Inspection Supervisor/ Team Lead, this person is responsible for the inspection of finished fabric.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This is a representative sample -- not to imply a complete listing of all responsibilities and tasks.

  • Ensure a safe work environment and identify training opportunities to reduce accidents and employee injuries.
  • Ensure that daily production goals
  • Position full horse and move empty horse aside
  • Align training end of fabric with leading end and use of Swiftack to fasten ends
  • Start machine. Give attention to fabric running; inspect for defects, according to SOP
  • Use scissors to cut bad seams or defects
  • Use sewing machine to sew fabric. Use tape to mask seams on both sides of fabric if required
  • Use Swiftack and/or china marker to "flag" defects
  • Record defects in the basic inspection system and bring to the attention of the supervisor or lead any questionable material
  • Place empty tube, cut swatch, tape tube (if required) engage fabric, measure width and attach piece of ticket
  • Verify arrow direction on initial roll of lot. Doff full roll
  • Cut sample for lab; collect paperwork, record production, fill out grade form and deliver paperwork and swatches to worktable and log in lab samples
  • Receive verbal instructions, get work tools, store them as well as get supplies
  • Fill Swiftack thread sewing machine and other tasks
  • Pay attention to detail
  • Effectively execute tasks
  • Lean manufacturing experience is strongly desired
