Job summary

ST Engineering - San Antonio Aerospace is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector to ensure each aircraft meets safety and airworthiness standards before return to service. FAA-certified A&P professionals with meticulous attention to detail are encouraged to apply.

You will perform initial and final inspections on commercial-type aircraft, verify weight and balance, audit maintenance work packages, sign airworthiness releases, and uphold safe maintenance practices in a fast-paced MRO

Qualifications

  • FAA A&P certification required.
  • Five years minimum experience in heavy commercial and/or military maintenance; or six months at skill level 3.
  • Recorded training on at least three types of aircraft.
  • Minimum two years of inspection experience.

What YOU will do : Responsible for the initial inspection and surveillance of commercial-type aircraft undergoing maintenance and repair.
In This Role, You Will

  • Comply with an initial inspection of commercial-type aircraft using customer provide work instructions.
  • Inspect and accept or reject all required inspection items and non-routine work accomplished on commercial-type aircraft.
  • Inspect aircraft and components utilizing special tooling and equipment.
  • Perform weight and balance functions on commercial-type aircraft and complete calculations.
  • Audit aircraft maintenance work packages.
  • Sign logbook airworthiness release.
  • Inspect and report findings on facility inspections.
  • Adhere to safe maintenance practices and keep the work area clean.
  • Maintain work performed on O.J.T. forms for the training department.
  • Successfully complete any training courses deemed necessary by supervision.
  • Perform any work that may be assigned by his or her lead or supervisor.
Job Specifications Working knowledge or ability to acquire skills in the following:
  • Component replacement
  • Hydraulic component replacement
  • Air-conditioning component replacement
  • Pneumatic component replacement
  • Engine component replacement
  • Basic hydraulic system operations
  • Basic flight control systems
  • Landing gear servicing
  • Basic troubleshooting
  • Tire and brake change procedures
  • Galley installation
  • Engine starter removal and installation
  • Cargo conversion
  • Cockpit window and windshield replacement
  • Entry-door slide removal and replacement
  • Brake rider duties and aircraft towing
  • Assistance with powerplant removal and replacement
  • Main fuel control adjustment
  • Engine trim procedures
  • Knowledge of aircraft manuals and related technical materials
  • Knowledge of Air Transport Association (ATA) codes
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance documentation procedures, including:
  • Job cards and timecards
  • Routine and non-routine cards
  • Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs)
  • Service bulletins
  • Work sign-off procedures
What YOU Need WORKING ENVIRONMENT: SUPERVISION: Under General Direction. Normally performs duties after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired results. INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: A high level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship with co-workers and supervision. PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Requires easy mobility around various sections of aircraft. Requires mental skills and quickness with the ability to cope with stress and intense effort fort or exertion usually caused by long working hours. The working environment requires standing 90% of the workday on hard surfaces. Must be able to lift 25 pounds and report to work regularly. Job Qualifications EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED
FAA A&P Certification Required
Five (5) years minimum experience in heavy commercial and or military maintenance and/or six months skill level 3 mechanic. Recorded training on at least three (3) types of aircraft. Minimum two (2) years of inspection experience. PREFFERED: GENERAL FAMILIARIZATION TRAINING MD-11, A320, B737NG, B747-400, B777, and/or B787.
