Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience in in-process inspection, quality control, or a production environment with quality responsibilities.
  • Experience inspecting electronic assemblies, PCBs, or electromechanical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly work instructions.
  • Proficiency with standard hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, go/no-go gauges).
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to concentrate during repetitive tasks, and commitment to accuracy.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for defect reporting and cross-functional interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and final inspections at defined production checkpoints, including sub-assembly, final assembly, and pre-shipment stages for hardware, electronics, and mechanical components.
  • Verify that assemblies, PCBs, cable harnesses, and structural components are built to engineering drawings, BOMs, and approved work instructions.
  • Conduct visual, dimensional, and functional checks using calipers, gauges, magnification tools, and other inspection equipment appropriate to the operation.
  • Inspect solder joints, connector seating, and PCB assemblies in accordance with IPC-A-610 or equivalent standards.
  • Record inspection results in real time within the quality management system (QMS), maintaining accurate and traceable inspection records.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming product; initiate nonconformance reports (NCRs) and apply proper identification and disposition tags.
  • Communicate defect findings clearly and promptly to production leads and engineers to support real-time corrective action.
  • Participate in first article inspections (FAI) for new or revised assemblies.
  • Monitor and verify production operator adherence to ESD control procedures, FOD prevention practices, and safety requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement activities by tracking defect trends and contributing to root cause analysis.
  • Assist in developing and refining in-process inspection check sheets (Inspection Plans), acceptance criteria, and visual aids.
  • Maintain calibration status of assigned inspection tools and report any out-of-calibration conditions.

You in This role

You monitor and inspect products and assemblies at defined checkpoints throughout the manufacturing and assembly process to ensure conformance to engineering specifications, work instructions, and quality standards. Working closely with production and engineering teams, this role serves as the quality checkpoint between production stages — catching issues at the source before they become escapes. What You’ll Bring

  • Experience using digital inspection or traceability systems in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) control procedures and FOD (Foreign Object Debris/Damage) prevention.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies)
  • Background in lean manufacturing or 5S practices.
