Job summary

Digital Prospectors in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Quality Inspector responsible for inspecting and auditing purchased parts, materials, equipment, and QC programs. You will interpret drawings, diagrams, specifications, and parts lists to approve or reject components during in-process and final inspections.

This role requires performing sampling and testing of incoming materials, documenting results, and mentoring junior staff, with a focus on safety and compliant housekeeping practices.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance highly preferred

Job description

Responsible for inspecting and auditing purchased parts, materials, equipment, and quality-control programs. This position interprets manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications, and parts lists to approve or reject components, assemblies, and systems during in-process and final inspections. Performs sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials to ensure that raw materials, in-process work, and finished products meet company quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform inspections on a variety of materials, components, assemblies, and systems.
• Conduct visual, workmanship, dimensional, and electrical inspections.
• Interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, and parts lists.
• Approve or reject components, units, assemblies, and systems based on established quality standards.
• Perform sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials.
• Determine or assist in determining the appropriate methods and procedures required for inspection.
• Develop and revise inspection procedures and associated workflows.
• Perform source inspections at off-site facilities.
• Identify problem areas and bottlenecks and assist with their resolution.
• Document inspection results and prepare inspection reports.
• Develop procedures to ensure work is performed accurately and consistently.
• Follow all safety and security requirements and maintain good housekeeping practices.
• Assist with training and mentoring lower-level personnel in the completion of inspection tasks.
• Train new hires on departmental and laboratory policies and procedures.
• Complete assignments independently with minimal supervision.
