Job summary

North American Stainless is seeking a hands-on Inspection System Technician to support the Inspection department's technical needs. You will implement and maintain automatic inspection systems (Parsytec, Cognex) and review new equipment to improve quality control.

Responsibilities include acting as a liaison between QC, Operations and Inspection, analyzing data for investigations, and assisting with corrective actions and safety programs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum a B.S. degree in a science-related field.
  • Two years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Good communication skill.

General Job Description

Support Inspection department in technical needs.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Implement and Maintain automatic inspection systems and data
    • System include Parsytec, Cognex, etc..
    • Review new equipment and techniques
  2. Internal Quality / Problem solving
    • Work as liaison between QC and Operations and Inspection departments in solving quality related issues
    • Assist with data analysis and reports to aid investigations
  3. Assist in maintaining inspection standards and work instructions
  4. Assist in completing internal and external corrective actions
  5. Provide Claims review and Internal missed defect reports
  6. Perform analysis/audits of inspection records for accuracy and compliance with Work Instructions.
  7. Provide support as Calibration Manager
  8. Assist Supervisor with the Inspection department safety program
  9. Other duties and special projects as assigned by Inspection Supervisor

Minimum Education, Skills and Experience
  1. Minimum of a B.S. Degree in a science related degree:
  • Metallurgy / Material Science
  • Mechanical / Industrial Engineer
  • Physics / Chemistry
  • Computer Science (with Inspection system experience)
  • Two (2) years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Good time management and organizational skills

  • Physical Abilities Required
    • Mobility in plant
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, etc.
    • The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks
    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
    • Visual ability with or without correction
    • Communication abilities
    Health and Safety
    1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
    2. Comply with company safety rules, policies, procedures, as well as job specific work instructions and JSAs.
    3. Report the absence of or defect in any personal protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately
    4. Use and wear the personal protective equipment, protective devices and clothing that is required. The following is the minimum:
      • Metatarsal boots
      • Safety glasses
      • Hearing protection
      • Hard Hat
      • Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as
        • Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
        • Fire Retardant clothing
        • Acid PPE
    5. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policies or procedures
    6. Must follow all Lockout Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated equipment and machinery
    7. Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations
    8. Maintain a clean and safe work area
    Work Environment

    2. Clean, well ventilated and safe work areas.
